Time for food!

This week Mieka had solids for the first time! Some yummy tasty delicious rice cereal. Here are some pics of the momentous occasion.

Here it comes, complete with airplane sound effects! (November 14)

Hmm not so sure.. dribbling out of the mouth.

So Mieka? Not so sure if you like it?

Also, totally fluky but husband ended up putting the SAME bib on Mieka that Joel wore when he first had rice cereal!

Where's my bonus?

Today I feel a bit like a disgruntled employee. Too much work, excruciatingly long hours, not enough appreciation, and very very little pay (as in, NONE). Just wondering when I'll be getting my bonus. I'm working my ass off, I think I deserve one.

On a side note - I almost filled Joel's sippy cup with coffee this morning, and nearly dumped a pile of laundry into the garbage can.

Kids see EVERYTHING.

I had a very nice afternoon visiting with a good friend. We chatted for a couple of hours while Mieka slept in the sling. When her 6 year old daughter came home from school, she suggested that she draw me a picture. I had to post them here, they were just too fabulous. And in case you were wondering, my friends, no that is not a bird in the second one.

Children speak the truth

This morning as we were getting ready for school.

Joel: "Mommy, you stink!"
Mommy: "Oh ya? Thanks."
Joel: "Go take a shower, you're stinky, piou!!"

Out of the mouths of babes.

And this weekend...

Joel: "Mommy you're a BAD mommy."
Mommy: "Really? What makes me a bad mommy."
Joel: ponders for a minute... "Naw, I'm just teasing."

That's right buster. You don't know from bad mommy.

Exersaucer love

Joel 4 months old

Mieka 4 months old.

A Mieka-Moo

Mieka will be 5 months old tomorrow - can you believe it? I'm really enjoying this baby stage and all of its cuteness. I love her chubby cheeks, big round eyes, and the way she giggles when we walk past a mirror. She has this tickle spot in the crook of her neck and she howls with laughter whenever I get near it (she got THAT from Daddy). She's nearly rolling (so close!), loving the raspberries, drooling like crazy and experimenting with her voice. Someone once told me that girls are louder than boys, and already I can see how this is true. She yells until her voice gets raspy and then lets out little fake coughs like she's clearing her throat. (Elle/Lara - I totally just had a flash back to On Tap circa 1998).

As for nicknames - she's been getting a lot of Mieka-Moo since birth (I'm sure she'll LOVE that when she's older). And just yesterday I heard Joel call her Mieks. I'll have to think about that one.

Lift me up

I think I need an eye lift. I'm noticing the corners of my lids are looking droopier as the days wear on. Is it too early in life for plastic surgery? Maybe I should wait until the sleep deprivation has had it's full effect on my face.

Have I mentioned that I think grey hair multiplies in my sleep?

Children make you old.

Happy Birthday Joel!

Joel is three years old today! Three years ago today, I was in the recovery room holding my new little baby boy. I can't believe how fast the time has gone. He's still my little baby though ;)
